Selat Terms & Conditions

Effective date: 20/09/2026 · Last updated: 12/10/2026

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Selat mobile application, web application, and related services (together, the "Service"), operated by Selat Family Networking ("Selat," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference.

1. What Selat is

Selat is a multi-family networking platform, available on mobile and web. Each family creates its own private environment to connect and communicate — members can chat, and share photos and videos within their family, or extend sharing to other relatives or friends connected to their family members. Selat is not a public social network: a family's private environment is visible only to that family's own members and to whichever relatives or friends a member has chosen to include, plus limited admin moderation review (for example, where content is reported), never to the public or to unrelated users. These Terms should be read with that distinction in mind — many provisions below (audience controls, household-scoped data, co-parent consent) exist specifically because of it.

2. Your account

3. Family units, roles, and admin permissions

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create a Selat account. Selat is not directed at children, and account registration is intended for people aged 13 and over. Parents may record information about a child within features designed for that purpose (such as the baby/pregnancy timeline), subject to the additional provisions and consent mechanics described there and in our Privacy Policy.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

We may investigate and take action — including content removal, warnings, or account suspension or termination — for any conduct we reasonably believe violates these Terms, including in response to a report submitted through the Service's blocking and reporting tools or our own moderation review.

6. Your content

7. Household tools — no professional advice

Selat provides household organizing tools, including a Home Budget feature and a baby & pregnancy timeline feature. These tools are provided to help your family track information you enter yourselves. They are not financial, medical, or legal advice:

Coordination features. Selat helps family members coordinate trips, events, and polls, but Selat is not a party to any trip, event, or arrangement between members and is not responsible for them, or for anyone's safety, travel, or accommodation. Any cost-per-person figure shown for a trip is a calculation based on the numbers members enter, and Selat does not collect or process payments between members. The Family Map and shared location pins show only locations that members choose to share, and are not an emergency or safety service.

8. Fees

Selat is currently free to use. We may introduce optional paid features or subscription plans in the future (for example, a family-plan subscription). Any such fees will be clearly disclosed to you, and processed through the applicable app store (Apple App Store or Google Play) or another payment processor we identify at that time, before you are charged.

9. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party infrastructure providers to function (described in detail in our Privacy Policy, including our database, media storage, push notification, email, and text-message providers). Your use of the Service is also subject to any applicable terms of the app store (Apple App Store or Google Play) through which you downloaded the app.

10. Account deletion and termination

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure — no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, as also noted in our Privacy Policy.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Selat Family Networking and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

13. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If a dispute arises, please contact us first at support@selatfamily.com so we can try to resolve it informally. If we can't, the courts of Amman, Jordan, have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer in another country, you keep any mandatory consumer-protection rights and may bring a claim in the courts of your country of residence where the law of that country requires it. These Terms are provided in English and Arabic. If there is any difference between the two versions, the Arabic version prevails.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above, and where changes are material, we will provide additional notice (such as an in-app notification) before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
